The studio was nice apart from the bathroom, which was the one part that didn’t feel properly clean.

The host was friendly enough, and the location is good. The room itself was very basic, with a 5 chanel 14" TV and no Wi-Fi. The wet room was okay, though the place felt a bit run-down.

For a few days in Sofia, the central location works if you're only coming back to sleep. Everyone gets their own card or chip, which is why I'd give it 6/10. But it's damp and dirty, with lots of transient people around, and the hygiene is practically nonexistent.

At €19.50 a night, the private bathroom and central location near the metro, National Palace of Culture and Vitosha Boulevard sound like a bargain, especially in midsummer. The room was small and hygiene was terrible. There wasn't a proper shower, so you'd have to stand on the floor to wash. The booking also listed a minibar that wasn't there. Staff seemed to consist of one person, who I assume was the owner. Guesthouse Tzar Asen is very affordable and right in the center of Sofia, but I'd only suggest it if you're short on money and need that location. Otherwise, stay away.
