Lopera Guest House

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the main sights around the city centre are all easy to reach on foot. A great choice if you want some old Bulgarian character instead of the feel of an anonymous chain hotel.

Our place felt more like a little apartment than a standard room, which we loved. It had a lovely terrace to sit on, and the room was spacious, clean, and nicely kept. There was a fridge, bottled water, tea and coffee, a small TV with Bulgarian channels, and air conditioning. The location is brilliant, right by Alexander Nevski Church and a short walk from the Parlament and central Sofia. Just be aware that there’s no elevator, which could be an issue for some people.

Dessi at reception was wonderful, so friendly and helpful, and full of useful tips and recommendations. The guesthouse itself is quirky and cute, spotlessly clean, well equipped, and really comfortable. It’s in a handy spot near Alexander Nevsky cathedral, an easy landmark, and Knyiaz Alexander Dondukov Blvd, with plenty of cafés, restaurants, and other places to eat. Highly recommended.

There are cute shops and cafés nearby, and the centre is only about a five-minute walk away, so it’s a great base for tourists. The rooms are always clean, the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is lovely. Really nice hotel!
