Mercure Sofia City Hotel

The juice machine wasn't working at breakfast, and when I asked for orange juice, they said it had run out. The bigger problem came after I showered: the whole bathroom flooded. I called reception and got no answer for 30 minutes. Once we reached them, they said this was normal, handed us a mop and towels, and expected us to clean up ourselves. It's a hotel, service matters. Dressing nicely doesn't make you professional. If a problem you caused floods a guest's bathroom, fix it and find a solution instead of making the guest mop the floor.

The room was roomy and comfortable, with a good bed, pillows and blanket, plus large fluffy towels. The air conditioning worked well. Although the hotel is outside the centre, tram line No. 27 gets you there in about 25 minutes, and I found the price better than other 4- and 5-star hotels in the centre. There's a 24/7 gym, but its equipment is basic and some of it needs updating. The reception experience varied. About half the staff I dealt with were unwelcoming, close to rude, while one receptionist was very kind, though I didn't get her name. The bathroom was small next to the bedroom, and the doorless walk-in shower left water on the floor. I also found it inconvenient that solo guests get only one towel. Slippers weren't in the room, but housekeeping could bring them if asked. There was no tissue box or body lotion, either. Good value overall, and a few small fixes to service and amenities would make it better.

The food at Mercure Sofia was a highlight for me. Each dish was beautifully presented, with flavors that worked so well together. My compliments to the Chef and the whole team for the care and passion they put into every meal. As a professional in the same hotel family, it made me happy to see this standard, which reflects so well on the brand. The hospitality felt sincere from the moment I arrived. The rooms were bright and stylish without losing comfort, and the cleanliness showed real care and professionalism. Mercure Sofia brings comfort, elegance, and warmth together, and I left feeling valued as a guest. It's an experience I'll remember and gladly recommend.

We stayed for one night and I slept really well in the beds. Breakfast was awesome and the staff were nice. It's a very good hotel, just a little too expensive. Everything else was amazing.
