The location is excellent, and the rooftop pool and breakfast were both superb. But the hotel has declined over time. There was mold around the bathroom exhaust fan, the terrace sun lounger was dirty, and first-floor terraces face directly into one another with no privacy. They charged hotel guests per night for parking. Music from the nightclub across the street played loudly from about 1:00 to 4:30 a.m.; the hotel couldn’t sort it out, so we had to sleep with windows and doors shut. There were no mosquito nets, and the central air conditioning barely worked and offered almost no control. We asked for a higher-floor room, but were told the booking system assigns rooms automatically and they couldn’t do anything.

Sozopol is amazing, and the staff’s kindness and awareness left us on a positive note. They were all lovely and deserve our best regards. We booked one night because this was the only pet-friendly hotel, but we won’t return because it wasn’t worth the price. We paid 330 euros for a standard double room that was very small and uncomfortable, with almost no cell reception. Breakfast was mediocre and didn’t feel suited to a luxury hotel. Maybe the other rooms are better.

The price is high, but felt fair for the ideal location and the included access to the sauna and Turkish bath throughout the day. Breakfast was mediocre, more like what I’d expect from a four-star hotel than a five-star one. We stayed in suite 108, the best room: very spacious, with an excellent king-size bed, a large terrace, and a lovely view.

A lovely hotel in a great spot. The room was spotless, the bed was comfy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My only small complaint: there was no black tea at breakfast, so I had to buy some at a local supermarket.

The quick check-in was appreciated, and the deluxe room was comfortable, though the “garden view” was actually a dirt road and the in-room coffee machine didn’t work. Cleaning was excellent. The rooftop had plenty of beds and was nice, but the pool didn’t look as good as in the pictures. The spa was dark, the gym outdated, and the sauna wasn’t kept on. We sometimes had to ask more than once to get it turned on. Parking was plentiful and valet service was great. The restaurant was extremely expensive for Bulgaria, and we heard the food wasn’t that good, so we didn’t try it. The place is probably the best hotel in Sozopol, but it doesn’t meet international five-star standards: the rooms felt four-star and facilities around three to four. Breakfast included champagne, which was a plus, but was otherwise mediocre, had no fresh coffee, and stayed exactly the same each day. Service varied: some staff were well trained, while others seemed unfriendly and unhappy. We were there four nights, and it looked like they never got a day or even an hour off, which might explain it. There was a strong, sweet air freshener smell in the lifts and halls, thankfully not in the room. The clientele was mixed, including older men with call girls and women with lots of bad surgery, fake bags, and little dogs they treated like accessories and otherwise ignored. We spent our honeymoon and anniversary here, and had mentioned both when booking, but nobody even said happy anniversary or congratulations, unlike everywhere else we stayed on the honeymoon. It was okay, but disappointing for the occasion. I’d only recommend it with a very good early-bird deal, if you don’t mind these quirks. I didn’t take a single photo in four days because it wasn’t very photogenic in reality.
