Villa Orange

We booked 5 nights at Selena Beach Hotel through Travelocity, but when we checked in, there were no rooms for us, even though we had reserved a sea view room. They sent us across the street to The Villa Orange. That hotel had no elevator, and the hallway ceiling was leaking. Our room was in the basement instead of with a sea view, a block from the sea. Getting our bags downstairs was quite an experience. The night receptionist was very rude and questioned our citizenship and the language we spoke. Customer service was at 0%. We didn’t feel safe, so we left the hotel at 1 a.m. on the first night. The manager at Selena Beach Hotel wasn’t available to sort it out on the first day. When we asked when we could speak to her or him the next day, nobody could give us an exact time. We have plenty of photos to support this, and here is one....

The hotel is nice overall, and it’s close to Bamboo Beach and nearby bakeries and grocery stores. Lidl is 50 meters away. But maintenance is below the bare minimum: the air conditioners keep breaking, and the refrigerators and TVs don’t work. With better maintenance, the hotel would be worth it.

The rooms are very large, with a cool view of the sea, and the pool is perfect for kids while still big enough for a swim. A very nice, cozy place with great staff, probably the best place around Sozopol.

The studio flats were nice, and both rooms had air conditioning. We were there with two children and had a side room at the back, which was quiet. The reception people were very nice too. The one bad thing was that young Bulgarians staying here would come back drunk from town and wake us, so the children couldn’t sleep. We chose it because it looked like a family-friendly hotel, but were told the first two weeks of August are full of young wild Bulgarians in Sozopol. 🥴
