Central Apartment

Be careful when booking here. Apparently, several apartments are grouped under one listing on booking, so check exactly what you're reserving and the price. About a month ahead, we booked and got confirmation for a two-bedroom apartment at an attractive price. As the date got closer, problems started. Two weeks before arrival, the landlord called to ask whether we were still coming. There was an event planned in Stara Zagora, and demand for rooms had gone up. During the call we found out that, despite our confirmed booking for two bedrooms, they had actually set aside a one-bedroom apartment for us. When we questioned this, they blamed the way the options were set up on booking. After some back and forth, and because we were short on time, we agreed to take the apartment we'd originally specified, but at a higher price. Then, on the planned arrival day, the owner canceled, saying there was a plumbing problem they couldn't repair that day, and asked us to cancel the reservation. That timing at least makes me doubt the owner's stated reason for turning us away. Extremely unfair behavior. I can't speak to the accommodation itself since we never stayed, but this experience is enough to keep in mind.
