Avenue Apart Hotel

We were traveling in a campervan, and the staff kindly let us park our beloved camper inside the facility. They also accommodated our 15kg dog. The rooms were perfectly clean, and we liked the pool. Drinks were about what you'd expect for the price, though the beer could be better. The food was good and tasty. It's a small hotel, so there aren't 1.000 options, but there was more than we expected for what we paid. The one downside was that the food was usually cold, but that's how it works around here. The beach takes a 5-10 minute walk. The area around us was okay for our fitness ;) I'd read plenty of negative feedback, but found it totally acceptable.

We found the room dirty when we arrived, with used tissues on and under the bed and a really sticky floor. The food was bad, and I got food poisoning from it. I also found dead mosquitoes in my rice. On the last day, he called us to check out half an hour early, then came to our door, banged on it and started yelling. When we told them what had gone wrong, he replied, “What’s my problem? Thats not my problem.” It felt as if we were being blamed for finding the room dirty. A very bad experience, and I wouldn't recommend coming here. One of the worst hotels I've ever been to.

The dining was a real letdown for a 4-star hotel. Many dishes were bland or badly cooked, especially the broccoli, which was either underdone or overboiled. We went to a local restaurant one night and had the best meal of the week, including delicious calamari and other dishes. The hotel served calamari the next day, but it was badly prepared and tasteless. There were some good moments. We got a nice room when we arrived, and the person clearing tables was always polite, quick and attentive. Daniel, the shorter bartender, also stood out. He worked both the pool bar and the bar near the dining area, alternating shifts with the other bartender. When Daniel was on, the bar felt lively and drew people in with his smile, energy and friendly conversation. The taller bartender seemed distant, didn't engage much and was often on his phone. The change in how guests interacted with the bar was obvious. One night we came back around 2 a.m. and found the entrance locked. Reception was the only way to reach our rooms, but it was shut, and the receptionist had apparently gone to sleep. We had to call the security company to get in. When he arrived, he asked why we hadn't knocked, even though the door said “Open 0:00-0:00.” It wasn't a huge problem, but it was odd for a hotel that says reception is open round the clock. The town didn't make a good impression either, especially at night. It felt dirty, with piles of trash in the streets, and a bit uncomfortable to walk around. I appreciate the work of some staff, especially Daniel and the table cleaner, but I don't see myself returning to the hotel or destination.

The food was legendary, with lots of different dishes each day and the feel of an expensive restaurant for a humble hotel price. The pool was good too, and there was always a free sunbed. Our room was nice and cleaned every day, and the staff were very friendly. Thanks to every hotel worker and owner for an amazing experience. Everything looked so good and was very clean. I'd definitely recommend this place!
