MPM Hotel Condor - All Inclusive Light

We ended up eating out every night because it was so cheap. The food was great, but getting a dinner table was difficult since that was the only place to sit in the evening. Once people got a seat, they tended to stay there all night.

The drinks are very cheap, and the all-inclusive selection was just beer, wine, and cheap juice. They even cut a banana in half. The food was nearly the same every day, and the rooms are dated. Disgusting. Don't book this hotel.

We paid 175 leva per car for the hotel's parking, 350 leva for two cars, because we thought it would be secure. Our car's spoiler was stolen and it was scratched; my brother-in-law's car was scratched too. The hotel wouldn't refund even the parking fee. They said the lot was unsecured, but neither the official website nor the Booking.com listing mentioned that or said it was at the guest's own risk. If we'd known, we could have parked on the street for free and taken the same risk. Management offered no help beyond telling us to report it to the police. Reporting it in Sunny Beach turned into a two-day ordeal. Officers kept saying “no speak English,” waved us away, and denied having a translator. We happened to spot one at the entrance helping someone else. Without that chance encounter, I think we would have been ignored. After filing the report, we were told to return at 1:00 PM the next day for a certificate, which we had to pay for. We arrived at 1:10 PM, during official working hours, but the station was closed. When we tried to enter the public building, we were rudely sent away without an explanation, queue number, or information about when we'd be allowed back in. A local outside said something was going on inside and police were refusing to deal with people. When the doors opened again, local residents were let in while foreigners were ignored. The officers again acted as if they couldn't understand us when we asked for a translator. We waited another hour until the translator appeared and politely asked her to help. The certificate still wasn't ready, despite what we'd been told, so they asked us to wait yet another hour. We finally got it at 15:45, more than two hours after the promised time. The police treated us poorly and were dismissive. The hotel itself felt far below its advertised four stars, more like three or even two. The food was bland, repetitive, and generally unappetizing. Between the poor service, lack of accountability, and the parking situation, we felt neither safe nor respected. We can't recommend Condor Hotel or Sunny Beach to anyone seeking a safe, relaxing holiday. This was our first and last visit to Bulgaria. The crime, lack of help from local authorities, and businesses taking no responsibility left us feeling unwelcome and unsafe.

The location was five stars, and the local restaurants and beach were brilliant. I'd come back to the area, but I'd choose another hotel. The hotel gets two stars overall, and its websites and booking information need updating. I expected four stars. Our room was disappointing, and the bathroom photo says it all. The beds were changed once and we got fresh towels once. Each shower sent water under the door and soaked the hallway carpet. We tried using what we had to block it, but with so few towels that was hard, and the room developed an awful damp smell. A cupboard door was broken, and a light cover fell and smashed. The room gets one star. The pool was freezing, though we were there in mid-September. The loungers were ripped and stained, and the pool bar's chair cushions were filthy. We often had to wait for staff to come serve a drink at the bar. All-inclusive meant beer, wine, or soft drinks, with no cocktails. You could help yourself to ice cream, but I saw children put the scoop in their mouths and staff didn't change it. The restaurant food was okay, with a few options, and you probably wouldn't starve. Still, we ate out quite a few times. Staff rushed us out and took plates before we had finished. Stray cats also begged around the tables. I'd give the food three or four stars. It wasn't terrible, just not good enough every day. Service gets two and a half stars. Some days were better, but staff often seemed eager to finish. Only the lobby toilets were available. You could cross through the restaurant from the pool at breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but at other times you had to walk all the way around, leaving the hotel and going back in another way. We were told there'd be luggage storage, but the hotel closed at 2pm and our transfers weren't until 7:30-45. We sat outside with all our things. Since we couldn't take our luggage into restaurants, we had to wait until the airport to get dinner. Meanwhile, staff carried several pizza boxes back inside for themselves. It also wasn't pleasant to see a staff member wink at my 15-year-old sister. We avoided him as much as possible, and I'd walk another way or hide her when we spotted him. I think he got the message.
