Wine & SPA Hotel Chukara

I paid 65 BGN / 34 EUR for a spa-only visit, and at that price the facilities were a letdown. Both saunas were cold: the classic one was at 45 degrees when I went in, and the herbal one was at 40. The Turkish bath had no steam. One outdoor jacuzzi worked and had a decent temperature, while the indoor one was lukewarm. The pool and relaxation area were okay, and the cocktails were good. Employees were pushing guests to leave early. The owner should either set the spa's official closing time to 19:30 or pay staff to work until 20:30, so they can finish their duties after the last guest. As things stand, the arrangement makes the business look cheap, gorj. This is wildly expensive for Bulgaria. The price would be fine in Western Europe, where the facilities are much better, and at least the sauna is warm. I gave the hotel five stars only so they couldn't contest my negative review with Google. I wouldn't return.

Every part of the visit felt carefully looked after. I can't wait to come back, and would recommend this spa to anyone who wants a clean, well run place with great service and facilities.

The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, though a little limited and repetitive for a hotel of this class. Staff were kind and friendly, and small mistakes were easy to forgive. My one practical suggestion is to improve the slow bathroom drainage. We didn't try the massages because the prices seemed high, though perhaps the quality is high too. The rest of the hotel impressed us: spacious rooms, large bathrooms with all the necessary amenities, and cleanliness at a very high level. The multimedia system is well designed, and the thoughtful details show throughout. For the price compared with the quality of the tourist service, I think this may be the best hotel. The farther away restaurant has a themed menu and dishes made to a high standard. It combines Bulgarian culinary traditions with the chef's modern approach, and the wine is excellent. The clean, roomy, well maintained spa also makes this a good place to relax or take short trips around Triavna.
