Park Hotel Odessos

I've been coming back to this hotel for four years, so this stay was a huge disappointment. The quality has dropped badly, and we won't return. We booked and paid for a one-bedroom apartment through Direct Booking. At 8 PM the night before arrival, an email said it wasn't available for "technical reasons." After long, frustrating calls with the agency, which offered embarrassing alternatives, and the hotel, they assured us it was sorted and we'd get what we paid for. That promise fell through when we arrived. They offered two connecting rooms instead, which we reluctantly took. One was adapted for people with disabilities, with a wet-room bathroom that flooded the whole floor and smelled terribly damp. After two days we complained to the manager, who moved us to an apartment. Neither the rooms nor the apartment felt like four-star accommodation. Both were in poor repair and clearly hadn't seen enough investment. The parquet was swollen, and the apartment was dirty: gum on the headboard, toilets like a public restroom, dust everywhere, plus cockroaches and ants. The supposed king-size bed was two separate single beds with a king-size mattress on top. The beds were apart, and the maids used two single sheets instead of a proper fitted sheet for the mattress. Embarrassing. Food quality and choice were much worse than in previous years. The ground-floor and pool bars were understaffed, so waits were very long. At the restaurant drink station, soft drinks tasted watered down. When the CO2 ran out, staff often didn't replace the cylinder, leaving the drinks flat. The staff were generally friendly and keen to help, and the animation team was very good, those were the positive points. We booked at an early rate last November. Even at that price I'm partly disappointed, and paying the full seasonal rate would not match the hotel's current condition. It operates at three-star level at best, with cleanliness, furniture quality and general maintenance and service as the biggest problems.

The pool is big, towels are free, there are two bars, the food is delicious and the staff are great. The hotel is a really good option overall. The elevators are the one drawback: using them feels like a lottery when you arrive. Sometimes it's a 30-second wait, sometimes five minutes, enough to make you consider the stairs.

The hotel is peaceful and well kept, with tasty food, a very clean pool and a pool bar that looks after its guests. The main beach is crowded, quite far away, and the hotel doesn't have its own sun loungers. The loungers there are very expensive. I also noticed the Coca-Cola machine was switched off at breakfast, maybe that's a good thing. The food had variety, though after seven days I think it would get boring. Elevators often break down, which was a problem for me. Still, I'd recommend the hotel.

The animation team made our two weeks especially fun, with entertaining games every day and a really welcoming attitude. Special thanks to Dyelyan (Dido), who was kind, inclusive and a lot of fun to be around. The rooms were nice and clean, the buffet and bar were very good, and all the employees were kind. My family and I had the best time, and we'd strongly recommend the hotel!
