Villa Nasco

We stayed here twice, three weeks in total, and enjoyed every day. The villa sits among trees and a garden, and the hosts are friendly. Rooms have a rustic feel, with cooking facilities downstairs and a barbecue outside. The Wi-Fi is good, too.

Villa Nasco is lovely: a rustic cottage in a garden among the trees, with fresh air and birdsong that made it easy to relax and wake up rested. The rooms and beds were clean, and the bathroom had hot water. Breakfast isn't included, but there's a shared kitchen with two fridges, an oven, a dishwasher, and the other basics. You can also use the washing machine and iron. Mr Nasco is kind and speaks English, though he isn't always around. The young woman in charge was helpful, but didn't speak English, so Google Translate came in handy. Getting there was the hard part. The navigation sends you down a forest shortcut, and it can feel as if you've gone the wrong way. In daylight it's difficult to find, and at night it's very difficult. When the track ends, you'll see building ruins on the left and an old, disused concrete plant on the right. You're in the right place, just look up to your left for Villa Nasco. The kitchen could use better ventilation, and detergent smells from the washing machine spread into the corridor. The seaside is a long walk away if you want to swim.

The route to Nasco follows a dusty forest road past an abandoned cement factory. There are no signs, and the setting feels like a scene from a gangster movie with Al Pacino. In the morning it seems much less intense than it does after dark. The villa itself is in a park, with a large terrace and vineyard, cozy rooms, and a roomy courtyard with grass and trees. Every room has a balcony, and breakfast outdoors with the birds is lovely. There's private parking out front, though there is plenty of room to leave a car around the area.

We were surprised to find a fully equipped shared kitchen and indoor dining room, plus a summer dining area out in the garden. The garden has an ethnic style, and there's parking. Everything is well organized and beautiful. Nasko is kind and available when you need something. It's clean and peaceful, away from the noise and mess of "the turist ghetto." Pets are welcome, as long as yours doesn't kill the chickens :D !
