The room decor is flashy and overdone, with gold details everywhere that make the place feel old and excessive. The carpets felt dusty and unclean. The bathrooms are cramped and dated, with old shower heads, weak water pressure that changes without warning, and water spilling across the floor. The TV service and internet were bad too, hard to understand for a five-star hotel today. Breakfast didn't feel five-star either. The spa is tiny and badly in need of an update. The indoor pool is small, the facilities are very old, and I had serious concerns about pool cleanliness and safety. The outdoor hot tubs and services felt subpar, like an inflatable pool in somebody's backyard. Other hotel amenities need attention too. This doesn't feel like a five-star hotel to me, maybe two or three stars at most. The rates are very high and don't seem worth paying. I'd save the money and go somewhere else for half the cost.

The pool and spa are nice, though not very practical with small children, and there's no indoor kids' pool. The rooms are okay but need upkeep. Our air conditioning was an old Midea unit that didn't work, so I had to ask for a heater three times. The toilet also leaked and made an annoying sound, though closing the bathroom door kept it from being a problem. It's a pleasant hotel, just not really five-star and a bit overpriced for what's offered.

We only ate at the restaurant, so I can't say what the rooms are like. The food was delicious and better than we expected, and the place looks classy. Nobody minded that we were wearing ski gear. I gave it three stars for two things: the waiter mistakenly took my daughter's pizza to the next table, leaving her to wait another 30 minutes, though I know these things happen. Also, the bean soup cost 10 leva, almost three times what you'd expect to pay for a traditional soup like that.

We were lucky to visit when the hotel wasn't too busy. The spa center is small, but very clean and well cared for. Staff treated us with great respect and were both friendly and professional. Sadly, the piano bar wasn't open on weekdays, so we couldn't try it, but the staff showed it to us and it looked wonderful. We loved the hotel and would book again.

The warm atmosphere and attentive staff made for a relaxing stay at Hotel Rich in Velingrad. Its elegant rooms and excellent spa facilities make it a luxurious place to unwind, and the restaurant serves tasty local dishes.
