Baisan International Hotel Bahrain

The reception staff were pleasant and efficient, but the rest of the stay was awful. My family and I travel on a budget and are used to cheap hotels, yet this was the worst one I’ve stayed in. The room was dirty and poorly maintained, with large cockroaches. It was noisy all night: the club downstairs closed around 3am, then noise from other rooms carried on. At midnight, the women we saw around the club, apart from staff, were dressed up with heavy makeup and sitting alone. We saw several leave through reception with clients as we returned from dinner with our children.

The loud music from the CHEAP clubs downstairs was the worst part. Our windows banged from the noise until literally 5 AM, and we couldn’t get a proper night’s sleep any night. We booked a business stay for five days, from 24th till 29th June 2022, and the non-refundable reservation was a huge mistake. It was my first visit to Bahrain, and I trusted the pictures on Booking.com, but nothing matched them. I’ve attached pictures as proof. The rooms were extremely dirty, with scratches on the walls, missing toiletries, and damaged, scary-looking switches. There was a disgusting smell in every corner, like the whole hotel was a giant ashtray. On arrival there was no valet, and the dim lights and old-fashioned feel made the place seem stuck in the 1990s. We were disgusted from the start. I wouldn’t consider staying here unless I fit the categories I mentioned, since we belonged to neither and felt tortured.

The staff are friendly and the service is good, with plenty of private parking and spacious architecture. It’s a four-star property in the heart of the city, easy to reach from the airport. The surrounding area has other hotels and apartments, so it can feel a bit congested. Recommended for a family stay.

The staff were pretty friendly and helpful when asked, and hot water was always available. There are plenty of fast-food places within walking distance, which is a real plus. But the WiFi was very slow and often unavailable. Our pool-facing room meant sleepless nights from music parties by the pool that carried on until sunrise. The first impression wasn’t great: people were playing and smoking in the dim reception area, and the whole hotel smelled of smoke. Coming in through the parking area and along the dark, narrow corridor didn’t help. The building seems old, and much of the furniture was in poor condition. The rooms were dim with no ceiling lights. Our room was missing the thermostat cover, though it was put back when we asked. There were only three outlets, already used by the TV, fridge, and lamp. I’d hoped for a kettle for tea or coffee, but there wasn’t one. At least the toilet area was better lit than the room.
