Central Hotel Bonaire

The nearby nightclub and busy street can make nights noisy, especially on weekends, so keep that in mind if you’re a light sleeper. Still, we had a good stay at Art Hotel Bonaire. It’s easy to walk to the waterfront, shops, and restaurants, and our room had what we needed. The little kitchen worked fine for making breakfast, which was a nice extra. A good central choice if you want to prepare some of your own meals on Bonaire.

I stayed for a week in June 2024. The room had been updated and was pretty nice, with a comfortable bed, good AC, and a small kitchen that was a real plus. It’s central, about a block from the sea. Hot water in the shower was unpredictable, which I don’t understand. Water heaters seem simple to install. I also saw small cockroaches in the kitchen on a few nights, though that might happen anywhere on the island, and none came home with me. Most of the room was clean, but when I dropped something beside the bed and looked underneath, there was a shocking amount of dust and dirt. Housekeeping came only twice that week even though we requested every other day, and they clearly didn’t sweep under the bed. I’m not sure I’d stay again.

I booked a room, then got a message the next day saying there was no availability because their website hadn’t matched the other booking sites. From another review, it sounds like this has happened before.

I couldn’t hear a thing in the room or lobby, even with the street bikes and four-wheelers making noise around town. The place is small, which helped keep it quiet, and it’s right downtown with plenty of food within walking distance at any hour. The woman who checked me in was very friendly and answered all my questions. I’ve visited the island for years, and this is one of my three favorite places. Clean, safe, comfortable, and quiet. Amazing.
