Hornbill Garden Hotel

The rooms are big, though a little old compared with hotels in the Netherlands. The people are friendly, and breakfast is good with plenty of variety.

I found the airport transfer really useful, at $20 one way compared with $11 for a taxi. The hotel is good value and well located, with restaurants, coffee places, and a bakery nearby. The main mosques are easy to reach by taxi, and one is even walkable. My room was spotless, cleaned every day, and breakfast had lots of variety. Honestly, I had a great stay and would book again anytime.

The hotel can get you to the city centre and main attractions easily, at an affordable price. Every receptionist we met was very helpful, and breakfast had good options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. We had a good time. Thanks to all the staff.

The location was nice, with lots of shops and a spot by the river, and the front staff and driver were very nice. The airport shuttle costs $20 from the international airport. A taxi driver there quoted $25, so that seemed reasonable. I was glad the shower had hot water, even after more than 10 minutes. Still, I wouldn't recommend this hotel as a stopover on the way to Singapore. Breakfast starts at 6:30, so getting enough before leaving for the airport would be hard. The room was really dark at night, with just one light by the bed, and I kept finding ants on the desk, so I couldn't work at all. With the ants and dim room, and not being able to have breakfast before the airport, I'd rather find another hotel in Brunei next time.
