Parkview Hotel

The shower, hair dryer and room phone all failed, and there were more issues on top of that. A stay that should’ve been simple and comfortable turned into one frustration after another. Unless you want a test of patience, I’d skip this hotel. If an organization is hosting you, politely but firmly ask them to arrange somewhere else.

It’s a clean, basic hotel with okay breakfast, though the gym is under-equipped. Some sockets in my room started smoking when I used them, and staff didn’t really pay attention when I reported it. The other electrical installations seem questionable too.

The one-bedroom apartment was comfortable, with utensils and strong AC, and the vibe was okay. We brought a tablet and speaker for my grandpa’s mukun YouTube streaming. The gym was clean, probably because few guests use it, but it could use some improvement. Still, at nearly BND100 a night, I wouldn’t stay again after weighing the good against the bad. I booked two nights in the second most expensive room and brought my grandpa. Customer service felt like a motel, though maybe that was just my experience with him. No staff came to help when I dragged the bellboy trolley to the entrance so my helper could load the luggage, or when we took it to the elevator ourselves. Room service can be delayed on weekends when there are events. As a local, I wasn’t greeted. I saw a staff member greet a tourist with “hello how are you,” apparently because she was a slim, pretty young Asian woman, though her tone sounded annoyed. At the side entrance by Seoul Garden, I saw two staff smoking despite a no-smoking sign. They went inside quickly when they noticed us. The Wi-Fi was unstable and felt like it was coming from ancient routers. Hope the hotel improves customer service and doesn’t pilih bulu with ordinary local customers like me.

A good place to stay overall, but the water drained very slowly and caused a small flood every time we showered. The bathtub also drained slowly.
