UMA experience

UMA is far from everything, which made it a peaceful break for two nights in the middle of our busy itinerary. The outdoor spaces are beautiful, and we spent a whole day relaxing by the infinity pool and watching birds glide overhead. The rooms have what you need for a short stay and are comfortable. Staff were helpful, though sometimes a little slow, which suited the laid-back mood. In June, bring bite protection.

The infinity pool looking out over the layers of Andean subtropical mountains was unforgettable, and a small hiking trail gave us another mountain view, plus some tasty fruit trees. We stayed in K'ullu on a weeknight in August, in a separate room near the pool with its own bathroom and grilling section. We love grilling, so staff gave us useful advice and all the utensils we needed after we bought meat at the plaza. They also delivered salads and potato fries right when we said we'd be done cooking. When we arrived, they gave us a cell phone to message them with any needs, which was a great touch. Later, we were invited to a communal fire, with marshmallows for everyone and a quiet, comfortable evening. One of the owners was there and was a gem of a host, very welcoming and hospitable. I can't wait to return and stay longer.

The minimalist design feels elegant without losing its simplicity, and the views make the whole place feel connected to nature. It has a serene atmosphere and makes for a unique natural retreat. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for that mix of elegance and nature.

The natural setting and the Amazon valley backdrop are incredibly beautiful. I stayed for two nights at the end of July 2024 in the Zen and really enjoyed it. Staff were attentive to our needs and the service was excellent. It also had modern amenities, including hot water in the showers and sinks, air conditioning, heat, and a dehumidifier. I can't wait to come back. I only wish there had been a hot tub or heated pool, since the weather was a little too cold to swim.
