We paid $100 for one night in a double bed, with dinner and breakfast included, and the experience was disappointing. Our boat reached Isla del Sol at 6.30PM. We spent 45 minutes trying to find the hotel, which was closed and had no outside lights to show the entrance. After we asked several people, someone helped by hitting a door with a stone. A person came to open it and immediately said it was late and the cook had gone, though it was only 7PM. The room was old and rustic. The heater cable touched the hot part and was partly burnt, so we couldn’t use it. There was a heated blanket, but switching it on meant we couldn’t charge a phone. We killed six spiders, one of them inside a pillow. Dinner was eventually served, soup followed by chicken fillet and vegetables. There was no dessert, and when we asked for water, we were told it cost extra. We slept badly because the mattress was old and the room was cold. In the morning there was no hot water, so we had to ask for help. They switched something on, and only one of us could shower with hot water while the other had a cold shower. Breakfast was basic: scrambled eggs, butter, jam, a piece of bread, coffee, and hot milk. The service felt unwelcoming the whole time.

The views at Isla del Sol are incomparable, and la Posada del Inca Eco Lodge made the stay feel perfect. Everyone was friendly, sweet, attentive, and the hospitality was incredible. The bedrooms are cozy and have everything you need, and the bathrooms are neat with hot water. There are people available to help with anything and take you on tours. Isla del Sol is magical. I’d absolutely recommend the lodge and will come back!

The food was top notch, and we loved having heated blankets at night. Best Posada on Isla del Sol, with very high quality standards.

The ancient history all around Lake Titicaca is amazing. Read the book 1491 before you go. It’s a great place.

The owners have tried their very best to make a stay at this very unusual hotel location comfortable and warm.
