We went as a large group and shared rooms. Ours had three large beds and was quite spacious, with a beautiful view from every window. It’s a nice choice if you want to disconnect, enjoy the scenery, and take in where you are. The bathroom was OK and the shower was a good size, though it took a while for hot water to come through. The sink leaked, and after rain overnight and into the morning, water dripped above my bed. A towel handled it, but I reported the leak to help prevent future damage. The restaurant serves delicious food in good-sized portions, and they have beer, soda, water, and lemonade. Wi-Fi and electricity are available during the day, but there’s no electricity at midnight, so charge your devices beforehand. Hiking trails outside the hotel lead to the top of the island and offer incredible scenery. Mr. Javier was very kind and gave us the directions we needed. His family helps him maintain the place.

The family running the hotel are very friendly and have cute pets. It’s in a perfect location on Isla del sol. They’ll provide dinner if you ask, and there’s Wi-Fi in the dining room. There’s no English.

We really enjoyed our peaceful three-day stay. The view from the hotel is beautiful, and Javier and Irene were very kind to us. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all really good.

Puma Punku Ecolodge sits on the southern tip of Isla del Sol, at -16.05162°, -69.14194°, with breathtaking views across Lake Titicaca. Getting there from Templo del Sol in Yumani means a substantial walk with stairs, which could be tricky with mobility problems or suitcases. Puerto Sur, the island’s main town, is a 30-minute walk with both uphill and downhill stretches. The Mendoza family, who live next door, run the lodge and were very attentive and helpful. In April 2025, we stayed in room 105. It had two double beds and one single bed, and the bed was comfortable. The toilet wouldn’t flush and the shower was cold. The lodge gets evening electricity from solar power, and the Wi-Fi, delivered by a direct beam from the mainland, worked well. Cleaning and maintenance are seriously neglected. The Mendoza family needs to improve the rooms before they fall into complete disrepair. For meals you’re a captive audience, with nowhere else to go. The family served a good dinner with fish, chicken, and meat, and breakfast the next morning was good too. Puma Punku Ecolodge has rooms below the base, with great views.

The location is great and the room was OK. The shower head needs replacing. There’s no electricity or Wi-Fi at night.
