Hostal Maya Inn

The afternoon receptionist was so kind and helpful to us, and the shower had great hot water, a real luxury while backpacking in Bolivia. The place was clean and good for the price. Room 8’s queen mattress was old and uneven, the TVs need an update, and breakfast was disappointing, with stale bread and no orange juice. I’d still consider staying here again on my next trip to La Paz.

The location is decent, but the beds are old and the breakfast is very basic. There’s no kitchen, and for the price it wasn’t great.

For what it costs, Maya Inn is really good value. The rooms are a decent size, the beds are comfortable, the staff are helpful, and the location is hard to beat. It’s not perfect, especially if you’re a princess, but I’d happily stay again. Some of the reviews seem unfair.

The location is really good, and the rooms are simple but okay, though they smell a little strange. Mine was a double room with a bathroom. The electric shower didn’t get as warm as I wanted during the cold La Paz days, and without a curtain it left the whole bathroom wet. This feels more like a hotel than a hostel. There aren’t any common hangout areas, just the reception lobby and dining room, where they serve a simple breakfast. WiFi was really poor, though that seems common in Bolivia. There are computers in the lobby, but you have to pay to use them.
