Piacere Hostel

I liked the quieter residential setting in Sopocachi, and breakfast was pretty good, with pancakes one day and eggs another. Most of the staff were friendly. But the hostel seems quite new, as the manager told me, and it showed. Staff and volunteers seemed somewhat disorganized, and the rooms were messy at times.

The staff are really friendly, and the hostel is in a good location. It's lively and fun, but also noisy, so it may not suit anyone wanting a quiet stay. They sometimes turn on the dorm lights in the middle of the night. Breakfast is a bit basic, and having just one shower for the whole hostel is a nuisance.

The rooftop terrace has a spectacular view, the beds are good, and the location is okay. I paid 40 baht for a bed in a six-person dorm, which felt completely fair. The atmosphere was fairly quiet but friendly, and it was easy enough to meet other travelers if you wanted to. The bathroom and some of the rooms are quite small, though that didn't bother me over a few days. Breakfast was sparse: one bread roll, one egg, scrambled or fried, a banana, one hot drink, and just a little butter and jam. They could be more generous. The hostel could easily get five stars if the trash were emptied and the toilets cleaned more often.

Hostel Weekend is a welcoming place with an Argentine feel and a lot of good energy. The hosts have warm, generous hearts and make you feel like part of the family as soon as you arrive. It's easy to relax, chat, meet travelers from all over, and make friends. There's a bar where you can get a complimentary drink. They say tipping the bartender brings luck. Happy hour runs for two hours, with prices that are a pleasant surprise. In the morning, La Paz coffee and classic bread make a nice start to the day. Guests are happy to share advice and help you enjoy your stay. On Saturdays, they serve an Argentinian grill with grilled meats, salads, and side dishes. A fun spot to meet people from around the world while you're in La Paz.
