I can't recommend staying here. The charge was far too high, and the exchange rate didn't match what was claimed on Booking.com. They worked out the BOB price at roughly 10 times the USD amount, even though the actual rate was around 6.9 BOB per USD. I also didn't feel valuables were safe: the main entrance stays open, so anyone can walk in, and there are no guest lockers. With both the overcharging and lack of secure storage, I would avoid this place.

Paying the Booking dollar price in Bolivianos cost 30% more than it should have. They used an exchange rate of 9 instead of 7.

I liked the homey feel and having a kitchen where we could cook. It's a bit away from the tourist hotspots, which suited me, though Witch Market is a 35-minute walk. One dorm is right beside the common room and has no door, so it can get noisy when people are hanging out in the living room.

Such a kind family, it felt like a home away from home ❤️

The common areas were hard to use comfortably. We tried to have a movie night in the living room, but had to stop partway through because a nearby bedroom had no proper door and we were disturbing people. The kitchen was worn, bins often overflowed, and there were only three toilets for many guests. Our dorm held up to 12 people and was meant to have a designated toilet, but other guests kept walking through our room to use the bathroom and toilet. The “do not disturb” sign didn't stop them or the owner. There were no lockers or secure places for valuables either. Privacy was a major problem throughout the stay. The owner repeatedly came into our rooms early in the morning without knocking, when people were in nightwear or partly undressed, and I felt watched much of the time. Payment was also handled badly. Our Booking.com reservation was cancelled, then the hostel charged us directly at a higher rate, using 9 instead of the actual rate of about 6.46. That meant 230 BOB per person instead of the agreed 200 BOB. Staff kept saying we had 14 guests rather than 13 and demanded more money, although everyone had already paid. At checkout they held three passports left as deposits, saying not everybody had paid. It felt coercive and unprofessional, and seemed like an attempt to bypass Booking.com to charge more. My stay at Nomada Hostel from April 19-23, 2026 was stressful and very unpleasant. I strongly don't recommend it. The lack of respect and transparency was concerning, and future guests should know the hostel uses an inflated exchange rate and may charge more than the booking price.
