Adventure Brew was an ideal base for our week in La Paz, split around our time on Huayna Potosi. The hostel is huge and has a bar, kitchen, and rooftop. Our room was just right and had hot water. The food and drinks they offer are affordable, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

I've stayed at The Adventure Brew Hostel twice and would recommend it. It's close to the bus station and local attractions, and the neighborhood felt safe. They speak English, and there's a travel agency offering tours at reasonable prices. The hostel is enormous, with a bar serving homemade brews and food available. Dorm beds were comfortable, lockers were large, and the place was cleaned every day.

The dorms were unpleasant, with worn-out mattresses and hairs on the bed. Service was just okay and not especially friendly, and the location wasn't great. The cocktails at the bar were badly mixed, so I can't recommend it. Edit: Marc Haeussler. Please check your system again. You're right, I didn't try to resolve these issues with you.

The breakfast was okay, though basic, and the hostel was very empty and cold. We were on the top floor in a private room, and there are no lifts. Staff were staying on that floor too, and one morning there were lots of cats by our door. They seemed to just want to meet their new neighbors, but with our allergies we weren't happy about it. There was also what looked like a hole in the ceiling leading outside, covered with cloth, which was confusing. The Witches Market is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. They let us leave our bags for a night, but charged us even though we'd already stayed there for three nights. On our last night the manager was extremely rude and confrontational, which left a bad taste.

The staff, breakfast, and shared areas were all decent. But I wouldn't book the single sleeper private room. It was in such poor condition it should be taken out of use, maybe turned into a storage room. I only stayed one night and was exhausted, so I managed.
