The staff were so welcoming and helpful, and they even offered useful advice for the rest of our road trip. The rooms were spotless, the place was well cared for, and the background music made the atmosphere pleasant. We stayed here with friends and had a great time. On a few days between overnight stays, they let us use the common areas to shower, use the bathroom, and charge our devices without expecting anything back. That kindness really meant a lot. I rarely write reviews, but I’d absolutely recommend this place.

The staff were friendly every time we came in, always happy to chat, and made the place feel warm. The hostel was cute and easy to reach, with comfy beds and a lovely common area to relax in after an overnight bus. There were good cafes and restaurants nearby, too. The bathrooms were a bit of an issue, though the shower had strong pressure and was nice and hot. We did have a mix-up with a taxi we’d booked for 3:30am: the front desk guy had it written down for 5:30am. He was incredibly helpful in sorting it out and calling another taxi. So grateful to the overnight receptionist ☺️

My basement room was freezing, damp, musty, and had no windows. It didn’t look like the booking photos, and the fluorescent light barely worked. They should replace the bad bulbs, especially in windowless rooms. A loud extractor fan from the common area fed into a hole in the bedroom. The bathrooms had hot water but really needed a proper clean. There was no kitchen access or even a way to heat water, which seems odd for a hostel. Music played in the common area until 10pm even when nobody was there, and the rooms open directly onto that space. Wi-Fi barely worked outside the common area, and the free breakfast was very basic. One of the poorer hostels I’ve stayed in over two years of full-time travel. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

When I and a lot of other backpackers were stuck in La Paz because of protests across the country, this was an okay place to stay. There’s no drinking water available on site, and cleanliness could be better. The toilets don’t flush properly, so don’t be surprised to find “residues” in the bowl. Ventilation is bad, and unpleasant smells are common, especially since used toilet paper goes in the bin.

The staff were the best I came across in La Paz, and the location is hard to beat. The rooms are basic, but the hostel has what you need. Breakfast is simple but fine. I’ve seen the negative reviews, but I liked staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. It could probably use a renovation in a few years.
