The staff kept trying to sort things out for us, and breakfast was good. I’d stay at Turquesa again. Before arriving, I was wary because another Bolivian hotel with a similar rating had been a disaster, but this place was much better than that one. The top floor got intensely hot during our first few days. The translucent roof gives the building a greenhouse feel, so the heat seemed to get trapped; rainy days were cooler. There are also a lot of stairs, with no elevator. It didn’t bother me much, but it would be a real issue for someone like my elderly mom. On my last day the shower still had water, but it had stopped being hot. It had worked fine during the first few days, so that wasn’t a major problem for me.

It’s a large, clean apartment. Getting there from Uyuni by bus is convenient. The city center is around 40 minutes away on foot, or you can take a taxi.

The rooms are comfortable, and the hotel feels quiet and safe. The staff were friendly, and the price is very affordable. It’s an old hotel, though, and quite far from the historic center. Parking fits only two vehicles, the Wi-Fi is weak, and the TVs are old. On cold days, the electric shower only gets the water lukewarm.

For the price, this place feels like a very good deal. The breakfast was tasty and nicely balanced, and inside it stayed mild and comfortable despite the cold city outside. Service was excellent too, with friendly, attentive staff.
