Serma Hotel

There were a couple of positives: the shower worked well, and the hotel seems pretty new. But overall, go somewhere else. The room was cold, the bathroom tiny, and the pillow hard as a rock. Traffic outside made it impossible to sleep. The hotel sits amid what seemed like a motorway and several crossroads. Breakfast was served on the top floor, which had a nice city view, but it was extremely cold up there with no heat. The crackers and cheesecake-like pastry were dry, as if they’d been open for days. There was no real service. If you wanted eggs, you had to stop the lady yourself, since she never came near our table. The staff were very rude. I asked reception for a hair dryer and was told they didn’t have one. More than 50 rooms and no hair dryer! They charged 45 bolivianos for a towel, which is a crazy price in Bolivia. They said it wouldn’t come clean in the wash, though how could they know before washing it? It felt like they were using us as an ATM to get money out of us. We asked for a late checkout and had to pay half the room rate. For context, our double room with breakfast cost $33, and late checkout was $20.
