The breakfast was truly amazing, and the bathroom had enough light, which made it seem like they listen to their customers. The room was clean and warm, the bed very comfortable, and there was always warm water. Employees were very nice and the location was great. Passing cars were the one downside, though I guess that’s just part of Bolivia. Don’t miss the rooftop viewpoint! One odd thing happened when I tried to pay by credit card. The machine had run out of paper, so a guy at reception asked for cash instead. He then tried to charge me almost 30% more using the parallel dollar rate instead of the official one. I insisted I wouldn’t accept that, and he let me pay at the official rate. Don’t fall for it.

Breakfast was the best part of our stay, with lots to choose from: fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, avo, banana bread, and more. I highly recommend it. Virreyes hotel is a pleasant, comfortable place in the heart of Potosi old town, within walking distance of the main tourist attractions and a supermarket. The beds are very comfortable, and there’s a nice indoor courtyard where you can relax outside the rooms. The shower pressure was really strong too.

We stayed five nights, and everything was great. The rooms have heaters and hot water, and the prices are competitive. If you’re in room 204 or 304, you’ll get a great view of cerro rico. There’s also a roof deck with a view over the city. The coveted parking is a plus. If you’re touring the city, my advice is to leave the car at the hotel and use taxis or walk. The plaza is one block away, as are the boulevard and good restaurants.

The front desk staff were very helpful, and the location is convenient, close to the main square and all the dining areas. Rooms are comfortable and very clean, with great beds, though the pillows were a bit of a problem. Each room has heating, which matters in Potosí.
