El Grano De Oro Hotel

Silvia and her daughter Mariel run this lovely little hotel in a handy part of Tupiza. The rooms are roomy and the beds comfortable, and the place is spotless. Silvia speaks very good English and was helpful with all our questions, as well as arranging tours and suggesting things to see. She makes breakfast to order, too. We were there for four days, and her oat and banana pancakes one morning were delicious. As Canadians, we really appreciated all her help.

We found the price very fair for what we got, and the manager and her family were kind and attentive throughout our two-night stay in October 2025. The hotel is just a three-minute walk from the bus terminal and five minutes from the city center. Our room was spacious, spotless and well furnished, with steady WiFi and a shower that had consistently hot water and good pressure. Breakfast was very good, with fresh orange juice, coffee, eggs and fruit. We’d absolutely recommend staying here in Tupiza.

The landlady wouldn’t want you to think this is a Hilton with all its amenities, and it isn’t. But it’s immaculately clean, very comfortable and run extraordinarily well. The hearty breakfast was good, too.

Breakfast was a treat, and they were happy to accommodate our vegetarian diet. The banana and oatmeal pancakes were especially delicious. The mother and daughter who run the hotel were gracious, helpful and spoke excellent English. Everything was impressively clean, right from reception and the staircase to the room and bathroom. The bathroom was impeccable, and the shower was lovely and warm. We felt at home there and would happily stay again if we return to Tupiza.
