I paid in dollars, and the reception sells drinks and hygiene items. The location is very convenient, on the same street as the bus station. I stayed one night in a single room with a shared bathroom. It was clean and mixed, with hot water, but bring your own things, including toilet paper. The room was clean and tidy, all wood, which helped keep it at a good temperature. There were enough blankets for Tupiza's cold.

A small stain on my trip. The experience was horrible and I was mistreated. I don't recommend this place at all.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. This hostel is right by the bus station and has the basics: hot water, a moderately equipped kitchen, inexpensive laundry, and horseback riding tours they can arrange. We didn't have cell service to read the negative reviews, or we probably wouldn't have stopped here. That would've been a mistake.

We left feeling awful about the place. We complained to the owner because the shower water heaters hadn't been switched on. He threatened to call the police just because we asked for hot water and toilet paper. They even wanted to charge us extra for the toilet paper. The guy yelled at us and wouldn't let us speak. Bad treatment and service, with a rude, ignorant owner who offered no solutions and kept saying, "It's because Argentina is expensive; they charge more there." We're not Argentinian, and that has nothing to do with it. We're in Bolivia. It's an expensive hostel, yet they skimp on basic services like hot water and toilet paper. They only provide the bare minimum, a bed, Wi-Fi, hot water, and restrooms, and it shouldn't be hard to keep those working. Like the last reviewer, I'd give it one star because I can't give it less. The staff and owners are rude, the place is ugly, and I absolutely don't recommend it. The worst experience you can find in Tupiza is this place, its owner, and its staff.

The staff were friendly. It's a good hotel, though I don't think it deserves its rating.
