The general hostility here was unbearable. At check-in they tried to charge us double the amount on our booking, so be firm. They don't tell you when breakfast is served, even though the serving window is only one hour, and arriving five minutes late means they refuse to serve you. The Wi-Fi doesn't work in the rooms, there are times with no water at all, and as others have said, there's no hot water. The worst part was being woken at 1am by a flashlight in my eyes and ordered to move my towel because someone else was checking in. I asked why they woke existing guests instead of putting the new arrival in the completely empty room next door, and the man had a huge go at me. After that, could you sleep well and wake up rested, even if the new guest wasn't snoring? I couldn't. Imagine travelling across the world for a bucket-list trip you're excited about and having the night disrupted like that. Spend your money elsewhere.

The beds were comfortable and the hostel itself was nice to stay in. The showers, though, were either out of order or burning hot, even after we told the owners. If you come back late in the evening, you have to ring the bell, but the night receptionist didn't want us returning late because she wanted to sleep. They recommend Ripley Tours next door, but I absolutely wouldn't recommend that agency. The service was very bad, as you can see in the reviews on Google for Ripley Tours.

The hostel is beautiful and has a lot of potential, and the rooms are comfortable with a sufficient breakfast. For the price, it was okay, but the organization let it down. Staff were friendly, though nobody clearly explained breakfast, Wi-Fi, or the amenities. We weren't told we had to ring a doorbell to get back in, and at 10pm the night-shift woman told us to return soon so she could go to sleep. The showers were literally burning hot or freezing cold after 10pm. We couldn't shower properly until our last day, when we raised the problem again and one of the three showers became tolerably warm. We also had a very bad experience with the agency they recommend, Ripley Tours, so I'd avoid it.

The staff were friendly and ready to help with anything, and the price is very competitive compared with other hostels. Still, half the showers don't work, the Wi-Fi signal is very poor, and the electricity is quite irregular. I wouldn't recommend staying more than one night.
