Tropicana Appartments Bonaire

The rooms were dusty, the bathroom tap leaked, and we had to open or close the main tap every time we wanted to use it. We were promised a shaded porch, but it didn't get shade until 4 p.m. The place wasn't suitable for staying with little children. The owners came across as arrogant, rude, dishonest, and focused only on the short term. We'd also asked them to arrange a taxi from the airport, but no taxi showed up. When we asked Irene, one of the owners, she said Roland hadn't called one at all. The next day Roland claimed a taxi had been waiting for us for 20 minutes. Terrible service.

We're celebrating our sixth year staying here. Love this place.

We had a wonderful time, and Tropicana Apartments is well suited to divers. There's a pool, plus a separate lockable space for storing and drying diving gear, with tubs for washing wetsuits, BCDs, and other equipment. A rental car is essential on Bonaire because the dive sites are right on the beach. The studios and apartments are simple, clean, and charming. Each has air conditioning, a shower, a toilet, and a small kitchen with basic utensils, a fridge, and a coffee maker. The owners, Roland and Irene, are very friendly and always available. It's centrally located, about an 8-minute walk or 3-minute drive to town. El-Bigote is right next door and serves delicious food, though it's open only four days a week. Quiet and clean, with owners who make sure you get a warm welcome when you arrive. A lovely place for a Bonaire vacation.
