Pousada Paradise - Alcobaca

We got a good room and breakfast, and the pousada has decent accommodations and a great adult pool. But our welcome was poor. We arrived at 10 p.m. after a long trip from Vitória to Alcobaça and had unexpectedly had our booking canceled through Booking. Senhor Júlio's first words to us were about that cancellation. Guests should be welcomed properly. At checkout, I was surprised by a 270 reais charge. Sr. Julio said that was the nightly rate because the Booking reservation had been canceled, even though booking sites listed the hotel between 184 and 220 reais. I felt taken advantage of, and when I raised it with him, he didn't give me an appropriate response. Also, during Covid 19, the cooks weren't wearing masks. Pay attention to your arrival time if you're staying here, so you don't get the kind of reception we did.

We stayed at Pousada Paradise on 05/ February/2022, and I loved it. If I'd known it was this good, I'd have come sooner. The place is airy, pleasant, clean and cozy, and it's close to everything. There are snacks at the pousada, the beach and kiosks are nearby, and you can see the church from the balcony. The owner was attentive and gave us personal service. There's a sauna, and the pousada's pools were very clean. I also loved the gardens, such a lovely sight and a balm for the soul. The rustic art in the dining room, the sculptures on the walls, and even the wooden gate and garage door all show real care and good taste. Thanks to the owner for looking after the place. We were very grateful, Silvana/Henrique. We'll be back!

The staff were kind, attentive and friendly, and I felt at ease during my stay. The place is spacious, welcoming, quiet and family-friendly. The location is easy to find, right across from the beach and close to everything. Breakfast was complete and well prepared every day. The beds were comfortable, the rooms had a minibar and TV, and the pool was huge. The electrical problems meant I had to change rooms. In the first one, the outlets barely worked, and one was actually melted. The shower gave shocks, and there was electrical tape on the control. In the new room, one outlet also had a bad connection and couldn't be used. The shower leaked cold water even when I was taking a hot shower, and the wiring was frayed. They fixed the shower as soon as I complained. Wi-Fi was strong on the first floor, but kept disconnecting on the second because the signal didn't reach well. The sauna was listed among the amenities, but wasn't available.

We were always welcomed warmly and had a comfortable, friendly stay. The pousada is right downtown on the beach street, feels very safe, and has good prices. No doubt it's the best pousada in Alcobaça. Congratulations to the whole management team. We'll keep coming back.
