Cristalino Lodge

Seeing the Amazon’s wildlife was the reason my partner and I chose to splurge during our travels around Brazil, though we were nervous about spending more on accommodation than ever before. We stayed three nights in March 2025, and it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We left so glad we’d done it. Our guide and biologist, Rafa, was professional and clearly dedicated to helping us find wildlife. We had two or three guided outings each day, plus three excellent meals. Everything went beyond what we expected. The whole stay felt magical, comfortable, and full of things to see. Cristallino lodge really knows how to do this. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Getting there takes a while: we flew from Cuiaba to alta floresta, drove over a really bumpy road for 90 minutes, then took a 30-minute boat ride. Once there, the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service was great. The food was so good it felt like a high-end restaurant, though we’d come for the Amazon and its birds, not the meals, lol! Our guide knew a lot about birds, but wasn’t as good at customer service or checking that everyone was keeping up and doing okay. I’m sure most of the guides are excellent.

Every day felt different, but still relaxing. Breakfast was terrific, and Fabricio was an inspiring, genuine guide. When I left, I felt a real connection to the Amazon, thanks in large part to my stay at the hotel.

Bruno was our guide from the moment we arrived until it was time to leave. He knew so much and took real interest in showing us everything. Karol, who was new to the team, looked after us like family. Everyone here made us feel welcome. I’m vegetarian and allergic to several vegetables, but they still prepared superb meals for me. I’d recommend the place to anyone hoping to see the Amazon rainforest.
