Pousada Avalon

The owner was really polite and helpful. The bedding and towels were spotless, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the internet was fast. The mattress was comfortable, and the shower had a strong flow. I had a great stay, congrats!

It’s a simple pousada, but extremely cozy and good value. The rooms are airy and have air conditioning, TV, a clothesline, minibar, and electric shower. It’s a little away from the center, which suits me because I prefer quiet to the bustle. The upstairs rooms have balconies, a nice bonus at night. The silence and view of the starry sky are something special. The staff were exemplary, and Sr Adilson was especially quick and helpful when he welcomed us. The few things I’d suggest are ways to keep more morning light out. The bathroom and room entrance doors could have film added, and slightly longer curtains would help too, so guests like me could sleep in a bit. The air conditioner works well for the room size, although some condensation dripped onto the bed in the morning. Nothing major. It still deserves five stars for the comfort, peace, and fair price.

The single staff member was impeccable, breakfast was great, and the room was clean and well kept. But there’s no charm to the pousada, and there’s really nothing to offer besides a room. The glass door and window face straight onto the street, so you have to keep the curtains shut all day. There isn’t another indoor or outdoor area, a kitchen, or even a laundry sink. The TV in my room was positioned so badly I couldn’t watch it. We asked them to fix it, but they weren’t able to. The mattress wasn’t very good either. For the price, I thought they could offer something more.

The only little downside was that light came into the room in the morning because the balcony curtain doesn’t block it very well. I already mentioned it to the owner, and I think they’ll fix that small detail. It’s not a problem if you like getting up early to make the most of the day. Otherwise, everything was perfect. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it had a TV, minibar, air conditioning, shelving, clothesline, and a hammock. The balcony was lovely, with another hammock where we enjoyed the night and looked at the stars. The welcome was excellent, and reception had lots of information about nearby waterfalls. There wasn’t breakfast available during our stay. They told us they usually provide it to guests at no extra charge, but weren’t offering it because of the country’s COVID-19 situation. I highly recommend this place.
