Pousada Casarrara

It was average.

I only stayed because I had to. The old saying about a cheap place turning out expensive really fits, and thankfully it was just one night. The rooms were stuffy, the sheets were dirty, and the air conditioner was dirty too. I have rhinitis and sinusitis, and my symptoms were already acting up during my stay. The poor condition of the Pousada made them worse. There’s a pizzeria there, but no other food options. The pizza tastes good, though the prices are quite high.

It’s cozy and fairly priced. Every room is a suite with air conditioning and a locked garage. It’s in the center on a quiet, peaceful street, 200 meters from the banks, 300 meters from the main square, opposite City Hall, and 200 meters from the São João circuit. There’s also a pizzeria next door that makes the best pizza in town.

For the price, this place was expensive compared with hotels in a higher category. I paid $145.00 at Casarrara. The room had no minibar, and one outlet was exposed beside a metal bed. There were lots of mosquitoes and no mosquito net. By comparison, I stayed at Porto Salvador, a hotel in Barra, Salvador, for 119.00 reais. That room had a minibar, an open metal wardrobe, split air conditioning, space for three, a flat-screen TV, and more.
