Ágape Hotel

It was okay.

The location is great, and the facilities are good. There’s no private parking, though, so we used a lot on the street behind the hotel. When we mentioned we were staying at Agape, they charged us 30 reais, which was a good price. The food is simple but tasty, and the reception and kitchen staff were very good and clearly made an effort. The dining room is too small for the number of guests, though. They could perhaps use the mezzanine to give the meal service more space. Breakfast felt chaotic, with people crowding around and items not being replenished smoothly, so I preferred to have coffee elsewhere. That’s why I gave it four stars. With a bit more attention and well-trained staff, I think the hotel could serve everyone well. The value for money also factored into my four-star rating.

The room bathroom was very small, and the mattresses were terrible. We had booked two rooms with double beds, but when we arrived they had put two single beds together and called each one a double. The door locks also need attention. One gave us trouble when opening and closing. The staff could have been kinder, too.

The staff were fine, and the location is good, but I had a very unpleasant stay and don’t think the hotel is worth it. The hygiene was a serious problem: the beds were old, the fabric underneath the bed base was torn, and the bathroom was in poor condition and badly cleaned. I also found a large cockroach walking through the room. I know things like that can happen now and then, but after reading other comments, it seemed this might be a recurring issue there. It was a bad experience, and I don’t recommend the hotel.
