Pousada Santa Fe

The kitchen staff were excellent, and breakfast was basic but fine. The front desk area always seemed to have someone cleaning, but the room was filthy. The bathroom was truly disgusting, covered in mold and grime, and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The beds were just as dirty and gross. I bought cleaning supplies at the market across the street and cleaned the room myself. I asked to be reimbursed for what I used, but they still haven’t replied. Completely disrespectful. I don’t recommend this place.

I came back to Aracaju the following week and stayed at the same inn again. It felt like a completely different place. This time my mattress was awful, and the minibar and air conditioner made so much noise it felt like being inside an airplane turbine. At least this bathroom had a full glass shower enclosure, so it didn’t flood. The quality seems to depend on which room you happen to get, and I wish the inn were more consistent. On my first visit, the location was excellent, near the waterfront and lots of restaurants, and the price was good. I did wish there were a proper mirror in the room, since the only one was small and in the bathroom. The lighting wasn’t great for reading either, and the half-height glass shower screen let water spread across the bathroom floor. For an inn in this price range, though, that was okay.

The location was great, but what really surprised me was the service. Everyone at reception was polite, helpful, and kind. It’s very good value and well worth it.

The breakfast had a good selection, and the beach is close enough to walk to. It was simple, but we felt at ease and felt things were handled responsibly. I’d happily come back. Well done!
