It was okay.

There was no one at reception at any point, so if we needed anything, we had to call and wait for someone to come over. The place looked abandoned from the moment we arrived, with lots of fallen trees. We booked four rooms through Booking with breakfast for seven adults and two children, but our room was in a separate area beside the septic tank. Every time another guest flushed, we suffered from it. In the morning, there was no breakfast. When we asked, they said breakfast was only available in high season. The pool was dirty, its deck was broken, and the wooden structure around the water tank was rotten and broken too. The rooms had only towels and blankets, no soap, shampoo, or conditioner. The minibars were empty, with nothing to eat or drink, the lighting was poor, and lots of wires were exposed amid the general mess. The air conditioner was so noisy that it woke us when it switched on. The whole place seemed deserted. A family trip meant for relaxing turned into our worst nightmare. An experience I never want to repeat.

The grounds and pool are lovely, and the place itself has a lot going for it. But the upkeep is really poor. The rooms are old and smell damp.

The best thing was being close enough to walk to the center of Búzios. The rest was disappointing. When we arrived, the place looked abandoned, and we had to open the gate ourselves. The three employees were having breakfast and didn't know about our reservation. Our first room had a very old, noisy air conditioner. We asked to move, and the next room was better in that respect, but the shower enclosure leaked. We stayed only two nights, so didn't ask to move again. There was no bidet shower in the bathrooms, and the towels and bed linen were stained. We couldn't use the pool because they were repairing its deck. Breakfast was basic, with few choices: bread, cheese bread, two kinds of cold cuts, coffee, milk, and fresh orange juice. The owner needs to invest in maintenance and staff, as the people there don't seem able to keep up. The grounds are large and could be cared for and grassed to look much nicer.
