My bank called today about attempted charges, including a large purchase at Amazon Mexico and several smaller transactions in Brazil, where I don’t live and wasn’t at the time. The only people in Brazil who had my card number were the hotel, so I believe they took the information and spent money. This is insane behavior for a hotel. I booked a room through booking.com, but the hotel said my card transaction wouldn’t go through and offered a discount if I paid through a link they would send. That seemed suspicious, so I said I wanted to stick with booking.com’s security and switched to a new card. They rejected that one too and asked me to pay through their website. I wasn’t comfortable entering my card details on a random site. They then offered to send a secure payment link from a bank. I cancelled the reservation yesterday.

The property is full of beautiful plants, and there’s a hammock on the balcony. The rooms have a cottage feel, with air conditioning and hot water for showers. The pool is cold, though it’s heated in the evening. Getting to the beach costs extra, and it’s about a 10-minute walk or a 5-minute drive. They provide a free shuttle with several drop-off times. The beach is beautiful and worth paying extra to experience. There are shops and food shops nearby too, and the staff are very friendly and helpful when you need them.

Our room, 131, had an amazing view, and the staff were very friendly. The location was good, close to Buzios’s best beaches, and breakfast was good too. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable, with good air conditioning. I’d been worried after reading some Google reviews, but we had a very nice stay.

There’s a beach club right by the beach, and the pool is decent, though not above average in my opinion. The fitness academy is very poor, but the employees’ attitude makes up for a lot. Azeda and some other great beaches are within walking distance, and the hotel is near the center. Breakfast is good, but bees all over the place made it really uncomfortable. Management needs to deal with that ASAP. It’s a good place, just not great, and it needs some improvements.
