Pousada O Cantinho

The service was great, and it’s an amazing place.

The setting is peaceful and welcoming, surrounded by greenery, and Sr. Lee, his wife Katia, and Maria do Carmo looked after us well whenever we asked for something. The pousada is on Praça São Brás, at the entrance to the center of Arraial D'Ajuda. Vans, a supermarket, a pharmacy, and other essentials are nearby. It’s 1 km from praia de mucugê, very close to praia dos pescadores, 2 km from praia de parracho, and about 4 km from praia da pitinga. You can walk to the first two beaches. Breakfast is served from 8h to 10h. The menu is mostly the same, with an item or two changing on some days, and the portions are satisfying. It isn’t self-service, Sra. Maria do Carmo brings each guest’s breakfast to the table. It included cheese and ham slices, juice, coffee, milk, bread, sweet potato, corn couscous, cake, watermelon, pineapple, banana, papaya, and mini pudding. Rooms are available with a fan or air conditioning, and with or without a minibar, with prices varying accordingly. The minibar is small but useful. Thanks so much to Sr. Lee and his team. We already miss Arraial D'Ajuda. Keep the room windows open whenever you can, because they get moldy if left closed. I missed having outlets near the double bed. There were only three in room 9: one in the bathroom, one near the exit door, and one beside the single bed. The room also has no cutlery, glasses, microwave, or setup for preparing quick meals.

We were warmly welcomed, and Katia was very kind. She gave us lots of tips and told us about the history of the area, which we loved hearing about. The pousada is spotless and well organized, and breakfast is delicious, varied, and prepared with care. A perfect experience. We’ll definitely return.
