Hostel Caminho do Pontal

I felt welcomed and at home, made friends, and loved meeting the staff. It was my first camping trip, and thanks to God and the people who received us, it couldn’t have gone better. The staff were so kind and attentive to our comfort that their thoughtfulness was almost overwhelming. The site is about a five-minute walk from Praia de Pontal, a lovely, quiet beach for families. The facilities met our needs, though they do need some renovation. The grounds are a good size, and you can bring your car in. The gate is closed at night, so we felt safe. 🙏🏽💖

My husband and I stayed at the campsite and had a really good time. There are lots of power outlets and plenty of shade, and the pool is cleaned every day. It’s a great place for kids, and one of the staff members was very attentive, though I forgot his name. The bathrooms weren’t always clean, and I think the bus group’s mess contributed to that. The shower only had cold water. A packed bus arrived and made the night really noisy and chaotic. Someone should have stepped in about the late noise. We went at the end of the year, so I don’t know what it’s like at other times. Without that group, the place would’ve been perfect. I’ll come back!

The location is very convenient for the beaches, but the cleanliness was a letdown. The bathrooms were dirty, the kitchen was filthy, and the pool was unusable for swimming all weekend. A real disappointment. 👎🏻

The pool and location were good, but the lack of cleanliness made this a terrible stay. We arrived at the campsite for a seven-day visit to find filthy bathrooms and kitchens, and the water ran out every day. When a tour group arrived, the bathroom lines got so long I waited over an hour to shower. There were about eight bathrooms for 100 people, but when water was available, only around two had any, and it was cold. The toilets were filthy too. I also don’t understand why the host asked us to move our car from the internal parking area to the street so another arriving guest could take the space. Getting the reservation was difficult as well: I waited over a week for a WhatsApp reply, and calls went unanswered while messages were read without a response. I had a very bad experience and can’t recommend the place.
