We were really happy with this gorgeous hotel. It’s an easy walk to the centre and basilica church, and everyone working there was attentive, smiling, and quick to greet us. The breakfast was probably my favourite hotel breakfast so far in Brasil, with a huge spread of fruit, meats, cakes, sweets, tapioca, toast, cereal, and more. The rooftop pool looks like it belongs in a magazine, see photo. I just wish the rooms were a little bigger. With two women and lots of suitcases, things got crowded.

The city centre location is nice, but to me this didn’t feel like a four or five star hotel and wasn’t good value for the price. The rooms are plain and have no charm. Our iron was dirty, there were no coat hangers, and there was no drinking water. Service didn’t seem very committed.

The rooms are decent, but the service isn’t. Bar service is sparse, and the front desk is anything but helpful. For the prices they charge, the rooms aren’t worth it.

Soloman at the front desk deserves a special thank you for staying patient and calm and helping sort out my hotel stay. He spotted a duplicate booking for another Mecure and got it resolved. Thank heavens his English is way better than my Portugese, which is zero! The rooms were great, breakfast was great, and the Grand Salmon at dinner was delicious. Thanks again, Soloman. I highly recommend staying here.

The location is amazing, and the staff are wonderful. The room quality isn’t the best, and the floor and bathroom feel very average and below international standards, though everything was very clean. I’d recommend the hotel for its people. Brazilians are so friendly and welcoming, and Sergio and Paolo especially were great, always wanting to help and do their best. Thank you, Belem ♥️
