We were glad to leave. The rooms felt horribly cramped, and the reception was like an icebox that made me sick. Check-in was awful, with very slow and stupid staff. We paid for breakfast, but it wasn't in their system in the morning, so we had to get extra coupons. The toilet light didn't work, and other friends in our group were given rooms that were occupied and hadn't been cleaned. One of my worst hotel experiences. I don't recommend it.

Everything feels dated, and the service is just meh. The rooms are minuscule: there isn't enough floor space to open a suitcase, and the bathroom door won't close if you're sitting on the toilet. Breakfast is very modest. A 'Superior' room seems like any other room, except it has a mini-fridge. They call it 'budget', but that doesn't excuse cutting so many corners. I've stayed in much better places in the region for less money. You're better off elsewhere.

The prices are budget-friendly, and the location is convenient. Rooms are modern and air-conditioned, with flat-screen TVs, and they're comfortable and functional.

For its price and the nearby options, I stand by my rating. I rate each hotel within its own category and price range, not against every hotel overall. I've stayed somewhere like Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, which of course offers a different level of facilities from ibis Belem. Here, I found the place very clean and neat, with helpful, cheerful staff and good value. The location is fairly convenient, though you have to walk a little to reach the sightseeing district.
