The location is the one thing this place has going for it, maybe that explains the price, or maybe there just aren't many other options nearby. The room was depressing: dirty sheets, smelly pillowcases, and a strong urine odor in the bathroom. The air conditioner shown in the room photo is just for show, since they actually use a fan, and the internet seems just as theoretical. They charge R$ 30,00 for cleaning, which feels like a joke. There’s no breakfast, though I already knew that; it’s another thing to weigh against the price and the poor standard of the lodging. When I arrived in the rain, I rang the bell several times because it took a while to open the gate. There’s no reception, and the woman in charge was rude when she finally let me in. I’ve paid much less for hostels that didn’t offer much, but this inn managed to be worse. I’d rather stay farther from the center somewhere acceptable to rest. The place has no basic facilities, and the positive reviews can only be from friends of the owners or something. Don’t book here unless you want to get upset.

The place smelled moldy, water supply was irregular, the electric shower didn’t work, and the toilet was loose on the floor. There was also an adjoining accommodation area connected to the room by an unbraided door made of plastic. Those are only some of the problems. I booked directly with her, outside Airbnb or Booking.com, and paid 50% upfront, R$ 2.000,00. On the first night I said I wouldn’t stay, and we agreed she’d refund half of what I’d paid, R$ 1.000,00. Instead, she waited until I had left Belém and returned to SP to tell me on WhatsApp that she wouldn’t refund anything. Then she blocked me so I couldn’t reply. Tony Monteiro, here are the facts:

At that point, I was at her property trying to work out what to do with the credit, and she wanted to charge me 150 per night. She would deduct 100, and I’d have to pay her 200, so it would barely help, especially after everything negative I’ve read here. At the start of the pandemic, I paid 50% for a four-day stay, and everything was cancelled soon after. I asked for a refund within less than seven days. Dona Didi offered me credit with no expiration date for whenever another opportunity came up, saying she didn’t have the refund money. I tried to negotiate the amount with her on this occasion. The worst part is that I’d discussed all of it directly with the owner.

A great experience, nothing to complain about. Everything was good, and I recommend it.
