Royal Golden Savassi Hotel

The staff were friendly and very helpful. They found an extra twin bed for our 5 year old daughter, and the WiFi was decent. The TV also had Netflix. The location is great, and our bedroom was nice, though cramped, especially the tiny bathroom. The king bed sheets kept coming loose, so I had to tuck them back in several times a night. They looked like queen size sheets. We had a lot of luggage after a month of travel, so the outdoor space with a jacuzzi came in handy. But it was extremely dirty when we arrived. A housekeeper cleaned it after we asked, then poured the dirty water onto the rocks beside it. We used it just once. Tiny insects swarmed around the jacuzzi and got inside, which was disgusting. The pool was filthy too, with bugs and dirt on the bottom. I never saw anyone clean it. Even in Belo Horizonte's July “winter,” plenty of guests may find it warm enough to swim, so the pool still needs care. The sauna was out of order all week. At the gym, the weight machine kept breaking and was dangerous: knobs and springs fell on my head twice while I was using it. The elliptical was junk, as was the stationary bike. Only the treadmill worked for me. Our key card kept failing, so we had to get it reset at the front desk. Breakfast was free and passable, but the bread was stale and crumbly every day, the scrambled eggs were often runny, and the coffee was weak. We picked Royal Golden at the last second because our original hotel was even worse. We left there early.

Everything in the room was clean and working properly, and the breakfast was fresh. The staff were polite and helpful. The pool was fine, though too shallow, and the parking service worked well. It’s in Savassi, a very nice part of Belo Horizonte. I’d definitely come back.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The rooms are spacious, the pool is sizable, and the staff are very pleasant. It’s right in the heart of Belo Horizonte. Breakfast was the one weak point, but everything else was superb.

The room was comfortable and had plenty of space, and breakfast included some good healthy choices. The attendants were very courteous, even though they struggled with English. It’s a very good hotel, but for the price I paid, I’d hoped for a bit more.
