Pousada Mauna Lani

Great!

The service was a real highlight. Ingrid handled breakfast wonderfully, Amanda took care of lunch and snacks, and Lucas, Bueno, Jean, Sebastian, and Ariel were great at the bar. The pousada is right on the sand and well located. The upkeep, though, was very poor. We stayed in the master suite, the best room there, but three bedroom bulbs and one bathroom bulb were out when we arrived, leaving it quite dark. There were also three burned out spotlights by the bathtub and one on the balcony. The bedroom and bathroom bulbs were replaced the next day, but the spotlights still hadn't been changed by checkout. We were told only the owner could buy them because of the cost. The pool bathroom was another concern. None of its five lights worked, and the toilet had no seat. I told the owner directly, but neither issue had been fixed by the time we left. A single burned out bulb can happen, but having every light in that bathroom out, along with no toilet seat, doesn't fit the standard the pousada aims for. It points to a broader lack of maintenance.

We had a fantastic stay, and the service was outstanding. They quickly sorted out separate but adjoining rooms for my children as soon as we arrived. The beach is right there, with direct access, and they bring drinks and snacks to enjoy on the sand. They also provide beach chairs and umbrellas. Back at the property, there's a pool that's safe for adults and kids, plus a jacuzzi where you can relax. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend it, we were delighted.

I went with my family on December 31 and asked for two days. We arrived Wednesday night and requested to stay until Friday night, and the receptionist agreed. Then at 10 a.m. Friday, a different, rude receptionist told me to leave with my two children, showing them no consideration. The manager came over and said he would call the police and put all our things out on the street. Bel was extremely rude to me, and I even recorded what happened. The owner is really kind, but she could have prevented all of this. I ended up crying in front of my children. I don't recommend this pousada.
