Pousada Solaris

Great!

A peaceful place with a lovely pool and a garden that feels calm and cozy. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable, breakfast was tasty, and service was attentive. Wonderful pousada. I'll be back.

I stayed here over the Tira-dentes long weekend in 2025. I don't know what I paid because the agency handled the whole booking. I was in room 15. It had a PVC paneled ceiling, enough space, a standard double bed, AC, a minibar, and a TV. I didn't try the TV, but the other appliances worked. Bring your own blanket: the pousada's was very small. There aren't many outlets, and some didn't work, so I'd bring a power splitter too. The bathroom was the worst part. After nearly 22 hours on the road, I just wanted a decent shower, but most of the shower holes were clogged. The choice seemed to be water hot enough to scald you or cold. Cold was the better option, especially since we had a rainy week. Exposed wiring made me feel unsafe, and the shower control gave me an electric shock. The host said that was common, which told me a lot about the place. The bathroom mirror was cracked, and the towels provided were very low quality, so bring your own. Breakfast was very basic, so don't expect a big colonial spread. I stayed three nights, and Monday's breakfast was the best. The pousada is a reasonable distance from the center, about 5 to 7 minutes by car or around 30 minutes on foot. There are parking spaces inside and outside. The grounds have adult and children's pools, with nice landscaping. The staff were quick about repairs and similar issues, and they deserve a 10 for that. I also noticed that older reviews complained about the same problems. Since I booked through an agency, I couldn't choose where to stay, and I wouldn't have looked into it anyway. I've visited almost every state in Brazil with agencies like that, and this was the first time I'd run into this.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst stays I've had. The room had damp patches everywhere, including a wall stain that had turned green. We went out one night and came back to find cockroaches pouring out of a table in the room. The next day, they put that same table out for guests to have breakfast. We asked for SBP to get rid of the bugs, and afterward the room smelled awful. When we asked for the fan remote, they said there wasn't one and blamed us for spraying the insecticide. Am I supposed to be responsible for pest control and maintenance at the pousada? They were completely dismissive and even sent their underage children to deal with the problem. Taking a shower was a struggle. The shower kept stopping and made such a loud noise it seemed about to explode. The power cuts out easily too. When we got back from an outing, my sister went to shower and the electricity went out throughout the pousada, leaving lots of people in the dark with cold water. When power came back, many of the showers had burned out. I don't recommend this place and will never return.
