The building is marvelous, and I liked its architecture, which is why I wanted to stay. But this felt more like an event hall with rooms for the night than a hotel. My rest was ruined, and I didn't enjoy the stay. I wouldn't come back. If you like architecture as I do, stay somewhere nearby and come visit. It isn't worth the money just to appreciate the work of Oscar Nyemayer. I liked the sunset view over the lake. After booking, I asked for a room with a big bed on a higher floor, and they were able to arrange that. Room service was good, the food was tasty, and breakfast was quite generous, though those are mainly positives for the restaurant. For a 4-star hotel, I expected more. They don't provide slippers, a bath robe, or even a free welcome bottle of water. The pool was closed for maintenance on two of the three days I was there, apparently because events were happening right next to it, so I never got to use the fancy pool. Events need a lot of electricity, and two giant generators ran from early morning into the night, making noise and a smell. They were right outside my window, so I complained. I had to call reception three times before getting an explanation. They said to wait a minute and hung up each time. The generators were moved to the other end of the parking lot, which made it about 15% quieter than that first morning when I woke to the motor noise. Also, there are only 220v sockets, which seemed odd since the whole country uses 110v electronics.

The breakfast was nice, but the hotel is so far out that you are more or less stuck having dinner at the on-site Oscar restaurant, which is quite expensive. I looked into the laundry service too, but even washing simple items cost a ridiculous amount, so I used a public laundromat in the city center instead. The hotel was pleasant, though it didn't feel like a 4-star place. The carpets and some facilities were visibly worn, and I found stains on my bed sheets. I also expected the staff to be more helpful and welcoming. The pricing was really frustrating. I booked three nights through Booking.com, and the total in R$ plus taxes to pay at reception was clearly listed. No matter how carefully I recalculated it, the final bill was higher than it should have been. The minibar had the same problem: the prices in the hotel app were completely different from what I was ultimately charged.

A real disappointment was breakfast at the "Oscar" restaurant. It was disorganized, the food was very basic, to put it kindly, and the coffee was horrible. The hotel is old, so expect comfort more like the 60's. Still, it has a lot of history. Oscar Niemeyer designed it, and it retains that old style and those ideologies. The location is good, not far from the main architecture landmarks.

The tropical trees and lawn around the hotel stretch down to the lake, with lovely panoramas. The buffet breakfast is really good, too. Staying here is a unique chance to sleep in a building designed by renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. Its sleek international modernist design has a retro feel, with clean lines, beautiful furniture, and a terrace in every room.

It's a bit far out, but that wasn't an issue with how easy Brasilia is to drive around. The staff were good and the food was okay. The hotel is an emblematic design by famous architect Oscar Niemayer, a must see for modernist lovers, and I'd recommend staying when visiting the city. Given its symbolic value, though, it could have been kept in better condition. It lacked proper conservation and presentation.
