The waterfront room had an amazing view, and the location is fantastic, with great restaurants just a three minute walk away. Our room was quaint and clean, too. Stephanie and the team gave top notch service. She arranged a room change when we wanted one, then took charge when the AC had a maintenance problem, escalated it, and got it sorted. She also gave us a thoughtful gesture to make up for the inconvenience.

The staff are friendly and the location is good, but this hotel is far from good value. We picked it for the location and attractive design. The outdoor space really is lovely, but our room smelled bad from the toilet and had mold. We think they may have tried to cover it quickly with paint, but the problem hasn’t been properly dealt with. The room is also very noisy, whatever they might say in reply. The shower window faces the kitchen, so you hear everything the staff say, and they start work very early. If you can hear them, they can hear you, so there’s no privacy. Booking took three days to complete because their system is outdated. They still ask you to send credit card details on paper through WhatsApp, which is completely insecure and unreasonable. I spoke with at least three different people at their WhatsApp number. It’s 2024, and I can’t believe they don’t have online payments for international tourists. They also insist your signature must match your ID, which makes no sense since anyone could fake a signature. Anyone could use the company’s WhatsApp, so how is that safe? There’s a man, probably collecting cans for work, who comes to the side gate at around 4-5 am to pick them up. We understand that may be his main job, but the sound of cans being crushed so close to the rooms is unpleasant. Other people also come to check a large bin outside the hotel wall. We had three days of disruptive renovation work. They did give us dinner to apologize, and the staff and cook clearly put a lot of effort into making us feel welcome, but the salmon was undercooked and the filet mignon overcooked. Such a shame. They may offer a 10% voucher for Iconiko, a Japanese restaurant. It’s worth using, and the food there is good. There were a few checkout mistakes, though they were fixed quickly. If you don’t speak Portuguese, you may find it hard to communicate with staff. I hope management invests more in the team of very friendly people, improves the payment system and hotel logistics, and properly fixes the mold.

The internet connection was the one downside, since it wasn’t stable all the time. Apart from that, we had a great stay at Bravo Pousada. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the staff were courteous and helpful, and we enjoyed all the delicate food and drinks. I’d recommend it and would gladly come back anytime.
