Pousada do Foguete

The place was in terrible condition, and the rooms were awful. The walls were dirty, the bedding smelled bad and was disgusting, and the whole place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The room fan was so loud it sounded like a jet engine, and its button was broken. The room behind reception smelled like urine, the tables were propped up with bricks, and nothing seemed maintained. The pousada looked nothing like its photos. We paid for two nights through Booking but stayed only one, and Douglas didn’t refund the cost of the unused night.

The photos on the site make the suite look nice, but the room now has dirty walls and the bathroom is in poor shape. There were lots of mosquitoes in the room, along with a cockroach and a lizard. Douglas, who helped us, wouldn’t even give us insect spray. We asked by message to change rooms because of the insects, but he took a day to reply and then said there was no other room available. The sheets and towels were very worn and looked awful. The garage and garden were flooded and muddy, so the rooms couldn’t stay clean. We got no support from the people running or owning the pousada.

What should have been a happy, relaxing trip turned into disappointment and wanting to leave. The photos don’t match the place: the room stank, the sheets and towels were old, the mattress was filthy, and there was no air conditioning. The bathroom didn’t even have soap or a towel. There were cockroaches and a centipede, and I couldn’t tell whether there were more bugs in the bathroom or at breakfast. Breakfast was terrible, and there was no cleaning service. If we’d stayed a week, the room would have gone a week without being cleaned. This was the worst experience, and I’d tell people to find somewhere else because they’ll only be disappointed. I can’t understand how anyone could have an amazing stay here. The good reviews must be fake accounts or his relatives.

Douglas, the host, seemed to do everything himself, even putting breakfast together, but he wasn’t welcoming at all. We paid to stay somewhere else so our trip wouldn’t be ruined. The whole place was falling apart.
